BOE Letter: Re: Magazine Requests
by pixel into all bodies of elders in the united states branch territory .
re: magazine requests .
dear brothers: in our letter to all congregations dated october 20, 2015, regarding making wise use of printed magazines, publishers are encouraged to use good judgment to determine an individual’s interest before offering magazines.

Walking a thin line - Resigning Elder
by Sanchy inwarning of a long boring post ahead.
i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.
i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.

hi Sanchy---you wrote:
So, this is my situation. Elders are still in process of sending my details to CO and branch, awaiting their approval for my resignation
err---what --????
is that your words---or theirs --?
just what happens if "they" dont approve your resignation ?---do they then d/f you instead ?

A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?
by Finkelstein into myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.
gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.
over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

i might as well believe in god.
i believe in the loch ness monster, fairies, thomas the tank engine. angels, father christmas. the devil. superman.
so it makes sense to hedge my bets.

Quality of newer membership
by Lostandfound inon a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.
i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.
the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.

i have 7 grandchildren born into the cult----aged 20 down to below 10. ive yet to meet them. but i'm ever hopeful they will follow the trend whereby about half will leave sooner rather than later.
my most recent grandson --born last may---is thankfully born free of it.

its working just fine. a steady drain of the talent--leaves behind the brain dead who will believe anything if it guarantees them eternal life on a paradise earth. only snag is--they dont usually have much money.
